Vertoont goed mechanisch gedrag bij hoge temperaturen, goede thermische geleidbaarheid, grote elektrische weerstand, zeer hard en slijtvast. ### Zirkoniumoxide Geschikt voor mechanische toepassingen bij zowel zeer hoge als lage temperaturen. Kan gekleurd worden voor toepassingen in juwelen. Zeer hard, slijtvast en bestand tegen aantasting door metalen. ### Hydroxyapatite Geschikt voor veeleisende biomedische toepassingen. HAP heeft een chemische samenstelling die dicht bij die van bot ligt en is daardoor geschikt voor de productie van botimplantaten. ### Cordieriet Geschikt voor vacuümtoepassingen. Kent een lage thermische uitzettingscoëfficiënt, een laag warmtegeleidingsvermogen en is slijtvast.
